PANGBURN (f, 3, Congrats–It’s True Love {SW, $164,300}, by Yes It’s True) defeated a pair of next-out winners to don cap and gown first out over a mile of Ellis Park turf July 12, and resurfaced to finish second in Churchill’s GII Pocahontas S. on the main track Sept. 6. Off since, the bay was backed down to 9-5 and did not disappoint. Pangburn walked out of the gate and tarried the field early behind :23.64 and :47.86 splits. She took slightly closer order under stout restraint as the field bunched up into the home bend, and threaded her way through rivals before tipping out five or six wide into the lane. She kicked it into high gear once in the clear, and mowed down her competition to win impressively by a widening 1 1/4 lengths. The winner, a $130,000 FTKJUL Warrendale Sales graduate from Solera Farm, earned a 10% incentive bonus because she was racing without Lasix. Lifetime Record: GSP, 3-2-1-0, $103,470.
