Largent (g, 4, Into Mischief–Life in Seattle, by Unbridled) was a sharp debut winner here last March, but came up a neck short at Pimlico on GI Preakness S. weekend when run down by Eons (Giant’s Causeway), subsequent winner of the Stanton S. and GIII Kent S. Gelded since his last appearance, the 9-5 favorite sat in a distant second early behind a runaway leader who posted ambitious splits of :22.60, :45.29 and 1:09.09. He took over willingly heading for home, and poured it on from there to run up the score to 5 3/4 lengths. Bourbon in May (More Than Ready) rallied to complete the exacta for trainer Todd Pletcher. Largent is half to Kona Blend (Dixieland Band), MSW & GSP, $174,960; and Edgewater (Lion Heart), MSP, $250,142. His second dam is MGISW Life at the Top (Seattle Slew). NFL Hall of Famer Steve Largent played 14 seasons at wide receiver with the Seattle Seahawks.
