Laudation gets first stakes win in E.L. Gaylord Memorial

Laudation became a stakes winner on Friday night, rallying for a neck win over favorite Rose of Malibu in the $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington Park. It was another 4 1/2 lengths back to Artsy Hearts in third.

The Gaylord was a 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies. The stakes honors the former chairman and publisher of The Oklahoman.

Laudation ($7.80) had one horse beat early as Miss Hopper set pressured fractions of 22.13 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.69 for the half-mile. Laudation advanced on the turn, angled out in the stretch, and overtook Rose of Malibu while covering the distance on a fast track in 1:17.05.

Ramon Vazquez was aboard for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Laudation earned $30,000 for the win, her second, following a maiden special weight win in June at Churchill Downs. She has earned $64,440. Laudation is a daughter of Congrats and races for Jerry Durant. Her dam, Rite Moment, was a multiple Grade 2 winner who earned $399,303. Laudation is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Moment Is Right.
