Hip #441, an Exchange Rate filly out of the Tactical Cat mare Wickedly Wise, sold as the sale topper for $375,000 to Zayat Stables. “I liked the way she was shaped,” said Sobhy Sonbol, who bought the filly on Ahmed Zayat’s behalf, “and she looked like she was very quick on her feet. She’s the kind of horse that we look for.” The filly was consigned for owners David and Anne Hanley of Whitechurch Farm in Lexington, KY.
Also highlighting Warrendale Sales’ July consignment was hip #269, a handsome colt by up-and-coming sire Medaglia d’Oro out of the Grindstone mare Grandstone. Agent Todd Quast purchased the colt for $200,000, the second-highest price for a colt by the freshman sire..
Hip #398, an athletic filly by Harlan’s Holiday out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Song and Danz was also well-received at the sale. Bred on the same cross as GIII winner and GI placed Denis of Cork, the filly was purchased by Dapple Bloodstock for $160,000, the highest priced yearling in the sale by the top-ranked second crop sire.
